And then we had Ella, and life changed in so many ways. But as summer was coming to an end this year, Brannick really wanted to go on a road trip to Washington to see Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier. So at the last minute we threw the baby and the dog in the car and headed north. Brannick and I learned many things on this little adventure: 1. Dogs are not really welcome in National Parks, so poor Tough spent a lot of time in the car. 2. Ella does not like being restrained in her car seat for long periods of time, nor does she like being alone in the back seat. She is a very smart little girl that needs social interaction and freedom to move. 3. Ella no longer has a sweet little baby cry...now its more of a piercing, make your ears bleed screech sound that you would never imagine coming out of such a sweet innocent looking baby. 4. Its very hard to find a hotel in small Washington towns that allow a dog over 50lbs, and when you finally do find such a hotel, it is the scariest looking collection of rooms an people ever! 5. And most importantly, our days of last minute road trip adventures are over. We are now a family that requires advanced notice and thorough pre-trip planning and research before such adventures.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IMxcQEyou-Y/Toc8aYtcmrI/AAAAAAAAAXw/8Ql45Z2QKp8/s320/DSC01962.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658557880821652146" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-McS09bCfu4U/Toc8aMaTj8I/AAAAAAAAAXo/pdDYp1kgveA/s320/DSC01961.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658557877520142274" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p-tb2Iitt9A/Toc8aDsuGjI/AAAAAAAAAXg/jDcbGrQK8Qc/s320/DSC01957.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658557875181460018" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9Ko9vs4Kpik/TodANcNXcmI/AAAAAAAAAX4/NXbHdDwtH6k/s320/DSC01958.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658562056469049954" />

Newport, OR Marathon

Before I got married and had a baby I set a goal that I wanted to run a marathon in between having children. So after I had Ella last October I set my sights on running the Newport, OR marathon on June 4th. Brannick was crazy enough to let me talk him into running it too. And even though trainging was much harder than I anticipated after having a baby, I'm proud to say that Brannick and I both finished (my 3rd marathon and Brannick's 1st, and he adds only)! I am also happy to report that I have revised my goal to a more realistic half-marathon in between having children.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oFrsngCNYVw/Thcyp2KPn8I/AAAAAAAAAXI/nBZp_9a0M2Q/s320/041.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627021953917231042" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QpcfX60M4Ak/Thcypozwk4I/AAAAAAAAAXA/QDzsV1OlvdQ/s320/039.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627021950333260674" />

Home owners

After we got married I moved into Brannick's two bedroom duplex, which he had rented ever since he moved to Roseburg six years ago. It was a very nice place with great views and wonderful neighbors. But once we bought the dental practice and knew we were going to be in Roseburg for a while, we started looking for a home to buy. Our search intensified once we started accumulating lots of baby stuff and quickly outgrew our rental. And finally, after going through dozens of homes, two real estate agents, and three offers we finally got a wonderful home! <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L_6NhKoDJgQ/ThcuRxAvC0I/AAAAAAAAAWY/uY4W0pDmo5M/s320/IMG_0539.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627017142171798338" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--JDVTv_627s/ThcvzqDy2BI/AAAAAAAAAW4/ICjgXQnajr8/s320/008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627018823932762130" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jz9VKIHeBWo/ThcvzopP-0I/AAAAAAAAAWw/jZZ9a_-ICY0/s320/023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627018823552990018" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FHszn0cfheE/ThcvzR0JNtI/AAAAAAAAAWo/5OXezMfFflg/s320/023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627018817424668370" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mkLZVwsjJ34/ThcvzMx_-8I/AAAAAAAAAWg/_66s3y82dmo/s320/002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627018816073497538" />

Life is Tough...

I grew up with pet cats, I'm proud to say I am a cat person. I thought I wanted a pet cat, quite badly actually, but we weren't allowed to have pets in our rental. And then I had a baby and lost all desire to have a pet cat.

Brannick grew up with dogs. His dog Keogh was his best friend growing up. Brannick has wanted a dog for a LONG time and has done lots and lots of dog research on what the best breed for us would be. After all his research decided that THE dog for us was a German Short Hair Pointer. It's a bird hunting dog (perfect for Branick) that is also a great running dog (perfect for me).

Brannick used to always ask me if he could get a dog, and I told him he could get a dog as soon as he bought me a house. So as soon as we had a offer accepted on a house, he started looking for a puppy and found a breeder only 30 minutes from our house. So we went and looked at the puppies, and yes they were very cute, and I got suckered in. I agreed to a puppy... I had NO idead what I was getting into.

The problem was, the puppy was going to be ready to be taken home before we were able to move into our new home. So we ended up secretly having the puppy for three weeks in our tiny two-bedroom duplex with no yard, not fun!

Tough (or as I affectionately call him Tuffy), is our new German Short Hair Pointer puppy. He is four months old now, weighs 35 pounds, and is quite a handful. Luckily Tuffy is a pretty good dog, most of the time, and didn't have too many accidents in the house, and only chewed up one piece of valuable electronic equipment. But having two babies at home, all by myself most of the day, while trying to move, was not very much fun, and if I had know what a handful he was going to be I would have never agreed to the dog. The only thing that has kept me from killing the dog on several occassions is how much Brannick loves him. So I guess I'm stuck...

Despite my bad attitude, Tough really is a pretty good dog. He is already a great pointer and retriever and can run five miles with me without any trouble. And he is pretty cute, and aren't all girls suckers for a cute puppy?

<img style="cursor:pointer; I think part of this desire came from my love of endurance sports and putting myself through physical pain, part came from my nursing professor Catherine Coverston who pretty much taught us that you're not a real woman if you get an epidural, and I think most of my desire came from the fact that my mom delivered six babies without any pain relief, and if my mom can do it, then dang it I can too. But while I had the desire, I was never completely committed to epidural free childbirth. And since I live in the small town of Roseburg, OR there aren't a lot of childbirth class options, so my plan going into the birth of my first baby was that I didn't have a plan. I was going to see what labor was like and go as long as I could without an epidural, but I figured I would end up with one eventually...so much for plans.
It all started at my routine weekly doctor's appointment. My due date was five days away and I was only dilated to 2cm. My midwife asked me if I wanted her to "strip my membranes," which she said might help to move things along a little faster. I shrugged my shoulders and said why not (I guess I didn't see Brannick frantically shaking his head no in the corner). Plus we had a race to win. Brannick's sister Kristi was getting induced the next day with her first baby, and we had been talking to our baby in the womb that she really needed to beat her cousin being born (I just can't help my competitive nature). So the midwife stripped my membranes (ouch) and instructed me to go for a nice long walk. I got home from the appointment, Brannick went to work, and I went for a walk to our post office, probably just over a mile round trip.
Pretty soon I started to have small little cramps, and by the late afternoon I could tell that something different was going on. I called my mom and sister and told them that maybe I was starting to go into labor, but didn't want to call Brannick and tell him to clear his schedule the next day just in case I was wrong. But by the time he got home from work at 7:30 that night, I was fairly certain I was in labor. Brannick wanted to take me in to the hospital. But I told him no, that first labors always take a long time and people always say to stay at home as long as possible. Plus I had dirty bathrooms that desperately needed to be cleaned before I had the baby. So I scrubbed tubs and toilets while Brannick read through all of the handouts from our childbirth class (doesn't he know that cramming before the test never works). With bathrooms now clean, I suggested that we go to bed and try to get some sleep and we would go to the hospital in the morning. So Brannick fell right asleep and I tossed and turned with increasingly intense contractions.
I finally got up and tried to distract myself by watching recorded episodes of Glee and Dancing with the Stars. Then I got a brilliant idea to call my friend Jennie who is a labor and delivery nurse in Utah. She works night shifts so I took the chance that she would be up at 2 am, which she was. After catching up for a while, I described to her my contractions (which were about 4-5 minutes apart, lasting a minute, and pretty intense), and she agreed with me that I could wait a little longer to go to the hospital. I thanked Jennie for distracting me through an hour of contractions and decided to get in the bath tub to see if I could rest a little bit, which is where Brannick found me about 3:30 am. He again tried to talk me into going to the hospital, but the stubborn nurse in me wouldn't give in. I kept thinking that I didn't want to have to wake up the doctors in the middle of the night, and more importantly I didn't want to be that first time mom that always thinks she's in labor and goes to the hospital but gets sent home because she's really not. So I told Brannick to go back to bed and we would go to the hospital in the morning.
But as Brannick went back to bed and I got out of the bath tub, I knew I was in trouble. The contractions got incredibly more intense, and I didn't think I was going to be able to make it out of the bathroom to go get Brannick. After what seemed like an eternity I made it to our bedroom to tell Brannick I was finally ready to go to the hospital. He asked if he had time to take a shower before we left. This time the kind compassionate wife in me took over and I knew Brannick probably wouldn't get a chance to shower or shave for a while once we went to the hospital, so I said, "sure take a shower, but make it quick". So while Brannick was showering I finished packing our hospital bag, and after what seemed like hours Brannick was finally ready to go. He frantically packed everything in the truck, and at 5am we were finally on our way to the hospital. On the way, Brannick called his sister Kristi, who was just checking in to a hospital in Lincoln, NE for her induction, to let her know that we were going to win the baby race.
We got to the family birthplace all the staff were running around, it had been a very busy night for them. So they put me in the last empty room they had and the nurse got me hooked up to all the monitors, all the while I kept telling her that I wanted an epidural. She checked my dilation and I was between 6-8cm, and she said she didn't think I would have time to get an epidural. I started to panic and told Brannick that I couldn't do it. Then my nurse midwife came in, luckily she was already at the hospital with another laboring woman, and she said, "You're a first time mom, you'll have time to get an epidural." So the nurses started an IV and preparations for an epidural. And about that time I started to feel lots of pressure with each contraction and naturally started to push a little. The nurse noticed and asked, "Are you pushing!?!" I told her I couldn't help it, and so she checked me again and I was fully dialated. She said, "I knew you weren't going to have time for an epidural!" and then the room started to frantically fill with people and equipment. My midwife came back in and I started really pushing. After about 30 minutes of the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, my beautiful baby girl was born at 5:58am. We had been in the hospital a whole 45 minutes. Ella Ruth Adams was born October 6th and weighed in at a whopping 6.0 pounds and was 19 inches long.
So I ended up up experiencing a natural childbirth after all, I am officially a real woman, my nursing professor would be so proud. And apparently I inherited my mom's genes for having fast labors, which now I totally understand when she describes the process as, "being hit by a truck." The nurses at the hospital kept joking with Brannick that if we had waited at home any longer he would have been delivering the baby. Which is why he says next time we have a baby he is taking me to the hospital the second I start having contractions.
Brannick was an incredible coach and support during the whole thing (at least the parts he was awake for), and it was so cute to see him turn into an immediate proud and loving daddy. We are so happy and grateful that our baby girl arrived perfect and healthy and we are loving life together as a new family!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TNBD3i417RI/AAAAAAAAAOU/HDsJn35i3rU/s400/IMG_0054.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5534998563575426322" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TNBD3dkCe-I/AAAAAAAAAOM/exMww_MulEc/s400/IMG_0038.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5534998562145991650" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TNCVxD2yujI/AAAAAAAAAOk/lqOVCF-zrn0/s400/IMG_0079.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535088612119591474" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TNCVwRWtgdI/AAAAAAAAAOc/9WbZAIMjJ58/s400/IMG_0084.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535088598563258834" />

Summer 2010

This summer has been busy but a lot of fun. It started with my Aunt Karen coming to visit us in the middle of May. But you would never guess it was the middle of may by all the cold weather, rain and snow that we encountered during her trip. Karen was a good sport though and we were very lucky that the blizzard cleared long enough for us to catch a quick glimpse of Crater Lake! <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGA8Wo_gtQI/AAAAAAAAALY/BJmzOLuTH8w/s200/DSC01461.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503465104305337602" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGA8WVdrkWI/AAAAAAAAALQ/y-tiSVc1h2Y/s200/DSC01451.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503465099063169378" />
The next week in May Brannick's parents came to visit us in Oregon. After Brannick worked them over in his dental chair, he put them to work outside planting beautiful flower baskets around the office. We let them have a little fun too on a jet boat ride down the Rogue River and a trip to the fish ladder (where big fish swim upstream to spawn, and then die).
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGA-J0pBksI/AAAAAAAAALw/6R7hvcR8okA/s200/DSC01467.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503467083117204162" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGA-JhCYsXI/AAAAAAAAALo/0QDYkLR-XZg/s200/DSC01463.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503467077854867826" />
After Brannick's parents left I started a new job in the ICU of our local hospital. It feels great to be a real nurse again, and luckily I haven't gotten too rusty in my skills, but going back to working 12 hour shifts was quite an adjustment, especially being pregnant. And starting a new job really made me miss my old job and friends at UVRMC in Provo.
Brannick and I went to Nebraksa for the 4th of July, but once again brought the rain with us and ruined all attempts at harvesting hay. We still had fun setting off fireworks, feeding the animals at Cody Park, going out on a lake with friends, and especially attending my first baby shower thrown by Brannick's mom and sisters (It was a great duel shower for Brannick's sister Kristi and I who are due a week apart). <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBBNO3OnFI/AAAAAAAAAMo/7r_znqmzhIc/s200/DSC01482.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503470440230591570" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBBM2XO4NI/AAAAAAAAAMg/y8kmCeA1Bww/s200/DSC01476.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503470433653940434" />
At the end of July Brannick and I went to Oceanside, CA for a vacation with my family at the beach. My brother Aaron just returned from being a missionary in Veracruz, Mexico and it was Brannick's first time meeting him. Although I wasn't able to enjoy the ocean as much as a normally do (thanks to pregnancy), Brannick had a blast bogey boarding, snorkeling, and playing in the waves. We also went to an Angel's game on "Mormon night," and the Angle's won! Coincidence? I think not. The week ended too quickly with Brannick running a 5K race along with my sister Allison and brother Aaron. The greatest part is that Allison beat both the guys, way to go Allie!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBDpnS36FI/AAAAAAAAANI/j3JEdBGx4tg/s200/DSC01514.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503473126848587858" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBDpRVHm7I/AAAAAAAAANA/gViWlB5VNFA/s200/DSC01504.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503473120952425394" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBDotSOmTI/AAAAAAAAAM4/N4tBgVKjyeg/s200/DSC01497.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503473111276624178" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBDoVgeeyI/AAAAAAAAAMw/HDmiOYBJ-JI/s200/DSC01496.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503473104893934370" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBEwRnTOZI/AAAAAAAAANg/1eI9zCcOfhg/s200/DSC01531.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503474340799396242" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBEv9FZy4I/AAAAAAAAANY/15hqtx1Fcy4/s200/DSC01526.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503474335288511362" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/TGBEvr7qRZI/AAAAAAAAANQ/PlnvJ3oGtnE/s200/DSC01517.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503474330684245394" />
Now that all of our trips are over, Brannick and I are trying to prepare ourselves for the next big stage in life, parenthood! Since I accidently put up the baby countdown ticker a little early, I guess it's time to announce that we are having a baby! I have finally entered my second trimester and am due October 10. And for all of you who were wondering, yes, I was six weeks pregnant when we were in Hawaii, and I did thorough research that it was safe to skydive in the first trimester (as safe as skydiving ever is). We don't get to find out if it's a boy or girl until June 15th, when I'm 23 weeks! I've felt fairly good so far, and am just struggling with having an expanding waistline and slower running times.

5 Weeks
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S8cv6NpV76I/AAAAAAAAAKY/UzHZsf_Q6Ko/s200/IMG_0243.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460385750351998882" />
8 Weeks
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S8cwbp_FG5I/AAAAAAAAAKg/yYR_iTAy9Hc/s200/IMG_0235.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460386324895046546" />
12 Weeks
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S8cwxU0nfPI/AAAAAAAAAKo/ftLh1bw7tug/s200/IMG_0246.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460386697171139826" />

The second exciting event for us is that Brannick has taken one of the final steps in becoming a grown up and has finally bought his very own dental practice! He is now the proud owner of the Harvard Dental Group, which is the office he's been working at for the past five years ago. So we are going to be staying in Roseburg for quite some time now, and hopefully we can soon take another major step towards adulthood and become homeowners (got to have room for the baby). We are both pretty sad to not be living closer to family, but are very excited for this great opportunity.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S8cxrBN7qmI/AAAAAAAAAKw/vMJ8PezCm8Q/s200/IMG_0021.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460387688341023330" />                                                  <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S8cyAcz8fXI/AAAAAAAAAK4/myKYMFYI_TE/s200/IMG_0022.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460388056525471090" />
Signing papers, scary!!!

One Year Anniversary

Brannick and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary last month. It has been such an amazing first year, filled with lots of fun, love, adventure and excitement. And in keeping with that theme, Brannick thought it would only be fitting to celebrate our first year of our marriage in the same way, with a week long trip to Hawaii! Now I know this may come as quite a surprise and shock to our family, but Brannick thought it would be fun to take a "secret vacation," so we didn't tell our families we were going. But I can't keep the secret any longer, I should have never gone along with Brannick's crazy secret idea, because what fun is it to take a cool vacation without being able to tell anyone about it. So family I'm sorry we kept you in the dark, but now you will know all about it.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6joTpoEN2I/AAAAAAAAAGk/vO4mfv-__W8/s200/DSC01326.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451862773221046114" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6joTEnPK8I/AAAAAAAAAGc/nye3H5pPK7s/s200/DSC01331.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451862763285457858" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6joSdnMoXI/AAAAAAAAAGU/RH87Rmooc3c/s200/DSC01324.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451862752816308594" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6joR_9cD_I/AAAAAAAAAGM/ulitts4QQ0o/s200/DSC01320.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451862744856530930" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6joRZqEskI/AAAAAAAAAGE/HNfa7rKrskA/s200/DSC01313.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451862734574760514" />
We spent our first day at Pearl Harbor, and were surprised by how many Japanese tourists there were (probably more Japanese than Americans), except for on the USS Missouri (where the Japanese surrendered to the Americans to end WWII) we didn't see a single Japanese person, very interesting.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jps3rm36I/AAAAAAAAAHM/yAIjfmoT3Rk/s200/DSC01355.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451864306002354082" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jpsG65uPI/AAAAAAAAAHE/j5wU9mt-HqE/s200/DSC01354.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451864292913166578" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jprgdGAdI/AAAAAAAAAG8/EDWoDsd77P0/s200/DSC01350.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451864282587595218" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jprAgt1SI/AAAAAAAAAG0/qwIq1bJCaHs/s200/DSC01346.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451864274012853538" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jpqdN1pnI/AAAAAAAAAGs/sWYWEc9sTCw/s200/DSC01344.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451864264538433138" /></a
On our actual anniversary, Brannick was nice enough to go against his better judgement and let me fulfill one of my life's dreams, to go SKYDIVING! We met up with a group of kids from our ward who are going to BYU Hawaii and had so much fun! I was the last one to get on the plane, not realizing that you got out of the plane in reverse order, so I was the first one to jump. Since we were the first ones to go and there wasn't much room, my instructor and I were just sitting on the floor of the plane and just rolled out of the door, which was terrifyingly awesome! If you look closely in the plane pictures you can see us sitting on the floor, and then right as we're going out the door. The drop zone is right on the coast so the whole time you falling (we free fell for almost a full minute) and floating (a very peaceful and gentle return to the ground) you got to see the beautifully clear ocean and lucious green coastline (the company claims its the world's most beautiful drop zone). Brannick had no desire to jump, but rode up in the plane with us to be our photographer, and he ended up having a scarier ride down than we did jumping!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jvj_M8rwI/AAAAAAAAAH0/jwLqunJIHYU/s200/DSC01371.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451870750472187650" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jvi8l9ALI/AAAAAAAAAHs/krxHjL9QNcU/s200/DSC01370.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451870732591890610" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jviHZikzI/AAAAAAAAAHk/Dg8TMZPSVjg/s200/DSC01365.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451870718312747826" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jvhkmsNhI/AAAAAAAAAHc/0yB11Qtkl-s/s200/DSC01363.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451870708972664338" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jvg_UqOnI/AAAAAAAAAHU/ksj5ypLfYfE/s200/DSC01361.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451870698964925042" />
We spent the rest of our anniversary at the Polynesian Cultural Center, which was such an amazing testament to me of the truthfulness of the Gospel and the prophetic foresight of the leaders of the Church. Our night ended with more excitement, Brannick left the head lights of the rental car on all afternoon, so we had to be rescued by our friends Abby and Tommy and the great security guards, it was very amusing.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jyshIP00I/AAAAAAAAAIU/IDuXRtVDkgw/s200/DSC01372.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451874195553112898" />  <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jyqw4zKzI/AAAAAAAAAH8/3Gorkzx6jVQ/s200/IMG_0018.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451874165423549234" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jyrzSAk8I/AAAAAAAAAIM/UKhaFooKYLo/s200/IMG_0011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451874183246025666" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jyrZzOx1I/AAAAAAAAAIE/d2eB-e13pAQ/s200/IMG_0019.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451874176406046546" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6jz25coE0I/AAAAAAAAAIc/SgdXe5AHHps/s200/IMG_0013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451875473391358786" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j0ZiteEzI/AAAAAAAAAIk/GORr-2HjUew/s200/IMG_0008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451876068583412530" />
Our last day on Oahu we went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay and did a crazy hike up Koko crater. There isn't a real trail to the top, just old army rail ties going straight up, and remains of bunkers and stuff from WWII at the top. And because I always like an extra challenge, I forgot my shoes at the hotel, so I hiked up in flip flops.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j2NHQOUSI/AAAAAAAAAJE/vWTyzE0tN1E/s200/DSC01389.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451878054077813026" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j2Mh4IxMI/AAAAAAAAAI8/aa7JjSYpOCs/s200/DSC01391.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451878044044674242" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j2LtojDEI/AAAAAAAAAI0/IkUV22Mibwg/s200/DSC01385.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451878030020643906" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j2K42KDbI/AAAAAAAAAIs/v_9aioadU3s/s200/DSC01383.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451878015850646962" />
We flew to the island of Maui for the last few days of our vacation. We drove the very narrow and winding road through the jungle to the remote town of Hana, where we stayed for one night in a sketchy cottage, but got to go to beautiful white, black, and red sand beaches, all within a few miles of each other.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j7gaVz6yI/AAAAAAAAAJs/EY0gtIEDK_A/s200/DSC01415.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451883883177175842" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j7f_HZQ6I/AAAAAAAAAJk/qENoRpAaKeY/s200/DSC01417.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451883875868951458" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j7fJYa5EI/AAAAAAAAAJc/81chF2OpzJw/s200/DSC01413.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451883861444846658" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j7evKiuVI/AAAAAAAAAJU/pvwvbGTqXL4/s200/DSC01411.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451883854407317842" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j7eD9BC7I/AAAAAAAAAJM/jGt26owOOlU/s200/DSC01403.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451883842807860146" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/S6j8orSP64I/AAAAAAAAAJ0/xb_735sd6Rg/s200/DSC01414.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451885124676217730"/>
Then we made the same long windy drive back to civilization and stayed our last two nights on the desert side of the island in Kihei. While in Kihie we found an amazing snorkeling spot and even saw two sea turtles! I also introduced Brannick to one of my favorite beach activities, boogie boarding. He got the hang of it pretty quick, and only got slammed by a few big waves. One of the highlights of our time on Maui was going humpback whale watching. We could see lots whales from the shore jumping and blowing air, but we wanted to get closer. So we took an afternoon ship ride and saw tons of whales, baby whales, and dolphins up close. It was pretty neat to be out on the boat in the middle of the ocean and be surrounded by these huge animals (even though I got a little sea sick by the end).

We had an overnight flight out of Hawaii and when we landed the next morning we heard about the earthquake in Chile and the Tsunami warning in Hawaii, we got out just in time. We had an amazing trip which was the perfect celebration of such a wonderful first year of marriage. I truly am the luckiest to have Brannick as my eternal companion.

Summer and Fall Fun 2009

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/Sud1d6tR74I/AAAAAAAAAEc/fj9tmXAZEmo/s320/DSC01199.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397411835262660482" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/Sud0i__r0YI/AAAAAAAAAEU/Z2aRIAcs6Rw/s320/DSC01129.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397410823069749634" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/Srga8nN8BPI/AAAAAAAAAEE/JxtZk5615LI/s320/DSC00855.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384082983143343346" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/Srga8ISn7QI/AAAAAAAAAD8/mTPBUZooC20/s320/DSC01110.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384082974841498882" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/Srga7fL4YKI/AAAAAAAAAD0/KrLownDJqJ8/s320/DSC01078.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384082963807363234" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/SrgWdzdMCFI/AAAAAAAAADs/i2Lelr1Wn3U/s320/DSCN1273.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384078055806077010" />
We have a very busy and fun-filled summer, and its finally time I got around to blogging about it! It started off with visits from Branncik's parents and then my family (Brannick has to bribe people to come visit us with free dental work). <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/SrgUsveBk9I/AAAAAAAAADk/Zba4TqnKXek/s320/Pam+getting+worked+on.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384076113410626514" />
But after getting all fixed up in the dental chair we had a lot of fun playing tour guides around Oregon, including hiking to lots of amazing waterfalls, a jet boat rides down the Rogue River, and a trip to Crater Lake. Then Brannick and I went to Utah to run the Wasatch Back relay race. Brannick and I were on a team with ten other people, each running three legs, for a total of 112-miles, from Logan to Park City. It was an interesting experience, both tons of fun and complete torture at the same time. <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/SrgPFMUUJlI/AAAAAAAAADc/tUFMnqfBlbs/s320/DSC01022.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384069936401622610" />
We then took trips home to Nebraska for the 4th of July (see previous cow post) and then to Arizona for my sister Allison's wedding. And in between all of our big trips we've kept ourselves busy with canning, sewing (things I never thought I would be interested in doing), camping, triathlons, and shooting Brannick's new revolver.

Meeting the Cows

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/SlZ9Hb0unhI/AAAAAAAAADE/YnHfNP56xss/s320/DSC01053.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356606373485256210" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/SlZ8qSbnn_I/AAAAAAAAAC8/InF3Qo2yDxY/s320/DSC01061.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356605872747814898" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/SlZ8WBMNlbI/AAAAAAAAAC0/S6J3JhHC0u0/s320/DSC01056.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356605524522407346" />
Brannick and I went to his parent's house in Nebraska for the 4th of July and I finally got to meet the rest of his family...the pet cows! Brannick mom and dad live on 80 acres and have kind of a hobby ranch where they raise 8 cows and harvest hay once a year. I've only ever been to there house in the summer time to help with the hay, and the cows always spend the summer on a big ranch so they can spend "quality time" with a bull, so I've never met the cows. But this time his mom and dad took me to meet the cows, and it was quite an experience. They warned me that the cows might not be as nice and tame as they normally are after being around wild cows so much, but as soon as the cows saw and heard Brannick's parents (and saw the big bag of food they were carrying), they broke from the wild cows and came running. It was so sweet (and kind of weird) to see how much the cows loved Brannick's parents and how affectionate they all were with each other. They all swarmed us, which was a little scary for me at first because I had never been that close to cows, and they are HUGE strong animals. <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JY692U2zgZo/SlZ78LyqbpI/AAAAAAAAACs/osx-sfgra-4/s320/DSC01052.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356605080691437202" />
I didn't even care that they were all covered in flies and slobber because they were so cute and lovable. The funniest part was when it was time to leave and the cows just followed Brannick's dad like he was the pied piper because they wanted to go back home with him. And when they finally realized we were leaving without them they all just started mooing. So now I feel like I have finally met and been accepted by Brannick's whole family, including the cows Oreo, Annabelle, Muffin, Sweet Pea, and four other ones who I can't remember their names. <img style="float:left; We rented a car and drove all over the country, which was an adventure because there are no street signs, street names, or really any traffic laws in general. We stayed at the base of volcanos, rapelled down waterfalls, rode zip lines through the rain forest, swam on beautiful beaches, white whiter rafted through the jungle, soaked in romantic hot springs, saw breathtaking sunsets, and saw lots of wildlife (including a HUGE spider that chased me down the hall way of our room one night).

<object width="320" finally getting around to Blogging, Connie is going to be so happy! Brannick and I were married February 20th, 2009 in the Mesa, AZ Temple. It was the perfect day, clear blue sky, pleasantly warm but not hot, all my family and friends, and the most perfect man I could ever imagine.
      My wonderful and incredibly creative mother planned and did all the decorations for our reception that night in Tucson. And not even a major construction project in the church cultural hall the day before the wedding could stop the celebration. Thank you to all of my amazing family and friends who were there with us, and for those who supported us and sent their best wishes from a distance, you all really made the day so much more special for Brannick and I. We don't have all of our pictures back from the photographer yet, but here's the link to see the ones of Brannick and I. http://www.sloanphotographers.info/darkroom/share/?client/2009/emilybranicktemplesession

She joined...

...the blogosphere.
